I find Algae to be one of the most interesting living microbe. Algae is a living organism - it is not a plant. Some Algae are mobile, others are stationary. The size of Algae can range from a few microns to a few hundreds, with the largest seen in our oceans as Seaweed. Different Algae can mate, divide, lay eggs or multiply. They truly are amazing and interesting life forms! Some Algae have a hard crust covering, and when dead are used in such things as toothpaste and cosmetics.

This beautiful Brown diatom was one of my first observations of living algae.

I came across around 1000 living algae diatoms in just one drop of pond water.

While filming some algae, this cute little Ciliate Colep came into the picture.
