Warning: Copyright Law. NZ Copyright Act 1994: Although openly shared and published - all products, designs and modifications on this site are protected by NZ copyright law, especially and exclusively Sub-Silent Suppressors with INBUILT MUZZLE BRAKE - & Deci-Damp sound deadener: March 2008:

Important Note:   Using hypervelocity ammunition with this Suppressor/Muzzle Brake might actually result in a louder immediate/close range result due to the excess noise/sonic crack being vented sideways or towards the shooter - rather than forward and away with suppressor alone. However, this will actually result in a quieter result down range - where your prey is. It should also result in a steadier shot with less recoil.

Don't you think it is sad and rather boring that most of the suppressor designs that established gun-smiths, sports shops and engineers have been making and selling for decades still look the same and old fashioned???

Why do you think that is???   And MAYBE -  it's time for a change :-)

Welcome. Although this isn't my main website, I've created it to comply with Trademe regulations - to help you see my suppressors and how they are produced

I create, design and manage all my websites (three at the moment)

I am working on a new a FEW different suppressor design/options - there is NOTHING like them in the world!

YES - they are already copyrighted :-)               You will be impressed!  Check back soon!!!

(Some people collect my suppressors as works of art - and never actually use them. I think that's so cool - and consider it a huge honor)

This is where it all happens - my workshop

Although a lot smaller than my workshop when I was a full-time engineer, this is still pretty well stocked.

There's not much I don't have in the way of tools - engineer's lathe, welder, hand and power tools, compressor - and a full set of quality mechanic's tools.

And yes - like my gun-safe, my workshop is protected with a 240 volt  remote monitored alarm and security surveillance system.

One of the nicest features of my workshop, would have to be my Suzuki Djebel motorbike.

My workshop looks quite messy in the photos, but I actually keep it very clean and tidy.

It has nothing to do with suppressors - but I just had some fun making a mouth-piece for my trumpet.

Really nice to be working with brass again! (First 10 years of engineering were with brass, next 8 with stainless - now with alloy)

My purpose in producing custom suppressors for rimfire, PCP and Co2 rifles and pistols - is to supply you with the best value for money - with a product that looks better than the others on the market and work just as well if not better!  I value honesty, integrity and truth - in my life and business endeavors. I work to a tolerance of 1/100th of a millimeter with my engineering - and take great pleasure in my product.

Although a professional engineer/toolmaker/hydraulic specialist for over 18 years, my job for the last 8 years was - and still is - as a pastor. I think that's so cool! I even have a degree in theology :-)      I'm a professional Christian!!!

My mum is so proud of me....

I make custom suppressors in my spare time, as part of my hobby and passion for shooting, hunting & precision engineering. I just like having fun, and experimenting with new things, and being challenged to be creative. So dear friend - enjoy this webpage, photos & stories - and let's hope we get to meet sometime soon.   Actually, why not come along to my church some time. I think you might be surprised how pleasantly different, relevant to life, and real it can be :-)

Roger          P.s. I regularly take guys (and ladies) from our church on shooting trips & adventures)

Lots of people ask me about my rifle - even if I would consider selling it!

Well - it's not for sale - yet! The reason for that - is that it's not finished yet.

Savage .22lr with Ross Thumb-hole laminated stock with vented fore-stock. Bushnell 6-24x50 illuminated mill-dot crosshairs. Lazer. Mag-lite torch. Acu-trigger set to light. Harris bipods. Camo strap. Custom over-barrel suppressor. Polished and balanced bolt. 5 chamber mag.

Work still to do:- I need to completely strip and polish the trigger mechanism.

Approximate sale price?  Maybe around 2k.

Photo to right showing custom end-cap with built in Muzzle-brake and removable internal baffle - from my Savage over-barrel suppressor.

I have shaped the suppression spacer with a tapered cone that actually reverses back on itself, forcing the gasses and noise to flow backwards down the over-barrel suppressor and into the sound deadener.

It actually took me a whole evening's work just to craft this small piece (40mm diameter by around 80mm long), and although one piece, it is actually made up of several that are press-fitted together.  Funny thing, is that I don't usually start making something like this with drawings or a printed plan. I have an idea in my mind of what I want, and I just start making it. Often I have to adapt and change as it develops, as the metal directs and determines what shape and style can be made.

When I am making items like this, I seem to zone out and my tools become an extension of my hands and mind.

Might sound strange to you. It's been said the line between brilliance and insanity is very thin :-)

If I do have drawings and plans, I always make them after the item. For me, making things like this really is art-work and an expression of creativity. I just enjoy it.

Beautiful!

I hope and trust you enjoy being part of my adventures, and using my suppressors - as much as I do.

So - again, welcome - and enjoy this webpage.

Now you can pay with your VISA card!

Many people ask me which suppressor I prefer and recommend. Thing is, it's really a personal decision - based upon who you are, and the style and look of your rifle.

Personally I prefer the clean lines of a larger custom sealed unit suppressor with internal suppression spacers - and inbuilt Muzzle Brake. In fact, I really want to make one for my Savage. Trouble is, that I make one for it, and it looks so good - that I sell it!

Improvements to polished finish

I wanted to give Trent's 10/22 suppressor a real shine. Here's the result after a bit of R&D.

I think you'd admit - it looks fantastic - and will actually look great on a blued barrel, as well as matching a stainless barrel perfectly!

History of Sub-Silent Suppressors

living my dreams

In December 2007 - I made a small suppressor on my adapted woodworking lathe - for my CO2 QB79 rifle, and posted photos of it on Rim-Fire Central. One of the replies didn't believe me that I had made it, pointing out that, 'Excuse my ignorance, but isn't that a wood lathe in your photos??!!'

This frustrated me, and actually motivated me towards wanting to purchase a real lathe.  Also, our oldest two children (at least the oldest two still living at home) were attending university. As a result our family income dropped by around $250 per week! I needed to do something to supplement our income.

So, a few weeks later, I sold one of my rifles and purchased a metal working lathe. In the first week - I sold every suppressor I made. I couldn't keep up with the demand - selling a large custom suppressor, and then testing the market with a budget slim-line model. I think I made and sold around 10 suppressors in the first week. I also pay taxes on everything I sell, and operate this business under our Family Trust account.  You have to remember that I have a fulltime job as a pastor, and I make suppressors in my spare time.

Literally dozens of people emailed, phoned or texted me in that first week, with ideas, encouragement and inquiries for custom suppressors they wanted me to make.

The demand and sales haven't stopped since.

What's helped make Sub-Silent Suppressors such an instant success?

Well, I think it might be a combination of several things. My website had become popular, with around 3500 hits every day from around the world - which helped in marketing my product and reaching a wide audience. I simply capitalized on this market. I also have a background in engineering/tool making - with 18 years professional experience. In all modesty - I am good at what I do. I also like to make people happy - and I love making friends. Being a pastor - and public speaker/motivator, I am also good with communication and motivation. One nice person called me a 'good PR man', and he's probably right.

I also attempt to undercut my competitors in suppressor sales and costs - roughly charging 1/2 of other popular entry level priced silencers on the market.

I practice an Open Source Policy, where I am totally transparent with all my plans, ideas and construction. In fact, you can ask me anything about absolutely anything - related to suppressors or anything else. I have nothing to hide. Many people my age (born 1965) struggle with this concept of total transparency and collective input - but the new generations fully grasp and share this understanding - we are a global community and each contribute towards our common knowledge and growth - even when it comes to designing and producing suppressors.

Not only do I want you to take ownership of this site and product, but I need you to do so.

After I closed my hydraulic engineering business in 1989 - I went on to study theology full-time, earned my degree, and in the year 2000 started fulltime pastoral work. I absolutely love pastoral work - and for all my adult life had done it in my spare time - and engineering fulltime. Thing is, I never wanted to leave engineering. I love it too! Little wonder that for the ten years following the closure of Transport Hydraulics - I would still dream about tool-making and engineering. In fact I had this recurring dream that I was back in the workshop on my lathe. I'd have this dream every couple of weeks - on a regular basis.

While making a suppressor in March 2008 on my new lathe, I realized these dreams have stopped - have been fulfilled.

These dreams were quite disturbing, and in hindsight - quite motivating towards me buying a lathe and beginning my current engineering business Sub-Silent Suppressors.

Funny how the tables have turned. Now I do my pastoral work full time, and my engineering part time.

I guess you could say 'I'm living my dreams!'

Cheers, and God bless.

Roger

Feedback & Comments

First of all - Roger, what a trader! I bought a suppressor and he made me an alloy suppressor there and then and had it in the post that night. I took it shooting tonight and have to say it is amazing! With subs the action on my Ruger 10/22 is all you hear and it looks so good with a s/s barrel. You just have to fit one. Roger you rock! (zoido1)

Great ...communication good product: smaller - lighter - quieter than existing silencer! (ThistleValley)
