I have owned many Pump, Spring & CO2 pistols - and I'd like to share my mods and developments with you - not for you to attempt your own mods - but more of a record for me and any gun-smiths or engineers who could use the information.

My goal is usually to increase velocity, performance and decrease volume. My best mod has been with a 1377 Pump - obtaining over 750fps. I'll have to buy another one, and show you how :-)

I will provide more photos and spec sheets in the future - to show and record my mods.

My latest pistol is a Gamo V3. I was very disappointed upon receiving it.

Velocity was 300fps max (down to 238!).

First task was to strip the gun, and mod the valve assembly.

I at least wanted to reach the advertised velocity of 400fps.

Well, so far I've got it running at over 433fps - purely by weakening and then stretching the valve main spring. I will have a go later at increasing this even more - by opening the porting a little.

Trouble is, that now it is quite loud - so I'll need to make and mount a suppressor.

Photo Left: Having dissembled the magazine and then valve system - the resistance against the valve pin needs to be reduced - allowing more gas to flow while it remains open - therefore increasing velocity. This is accomplished by shortening the main valve spring, but then returning it to its original length by stretching. If it is not returned to the original length, the valve will not close after firing - thereby emptying the CO2 canister.

Photo Right: Having increased from 238fps - the Gamo V3 is now shooting at over 433fps.

Left:    Just for the fun of it.

I found my old Daisy 15T CO2 pistol at the bottom of my gun safe - and all my small 12gram co2 powerlets were empty!

The solution? Turned a thread insert, custom suppressor and remote bulk fill line and adapters.

I estimate approximately 5,750 shots per fill, at a constant 405fps with heavy 12grain steel ball bearings = 4.4fpe @ approx 67dB.
