Ultimate .223 Varminter!
Although the .223 center-fire projectile is pretty much the same size as the standard .22lr, the cartridge is far more powerful and faster. Photo to the right compares .22lr, .17hmr - and .223.
My current project is to kit and tune my .223 - turning it into the Ultimate Varminter!
Work done so far:
Polish and balance bolt, trigger and barrel.
Thread to 1/2" UNF x 20tpi, make and fit full over-barrel suppressor.
Remington bipods. 6 to 24 x 50 Bushnell Optics.
Weaver quick-release hi-mounts.
Red Lazer 250 meter range.
When finished, and shooting at around 3000fps - this beauty should be accurate to 250 meters, and be suitable for rabbits, wild goats, wild deer and the occasional possum that decides to walk upon the ground! (NEVER shoot possums in trees with a center-fire, as the bullet is still dangerous for up to 5 kilometers)
